We know that the current situation with the COVID-19 has people on edge and the CDC is now requiring everyone to thoroughly clean frequently touched surfaces. We wanted to give you some great tips on cleaning and disinfecting your everyday electronics.
Your common electronics do collect some common and nasty germs, so we recommend doing this regularly anyway.
How to disinfect your smart phone from coronavirus:
How to disinfect your tablet for coronavirus:
- Power down the device.
- Prep a clean cloth or cotton pad to be sprayed with a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol-based disinfecting solution. (You can also use Clorox wipes.) Do not use paper products such as paper towels or tissue, they will scratch your device. Never spray your cellphone directly, you risk moisture leaking into your phone.
- You do not need to soak whatever you choose to wipe your device clean, just dampen it. If you are using a Clorox wipe that is particularly wet, squeeze access product out before application.
- Wipe your device clean for a minimum of 20 seconds, just like your hands. Back and front, thoroughly.
- Only power on after your smartphone is thoroughly dry.
How to disinfect your laptop from coronavirus:
How to disinfect your keyboard from coronavirus:
- Power down the device.
- Prep a clean cloth or cotton pad to be sprayed with a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol-based disinfecting solution. (You can also use Clorox wipes.) Just like with cell phones, paper products can and will leave scratches. Never spray your laptop directly, as you will risk moisture leaking down inside of your computer which will damage it.
- You do not need to soak whatever you choose to wipe your device clean, just dampen it. If you are using a Clorox wipe that is particularly wet, squeeze access product out before
- Wipe the outside of your laptop, concentrating on the lip you touch to open it for use first.
- Wipe down your screen.
- Wipe down your keyboard and concentrate on your space bar.
- If you have a touchpad, just like a smartphone, clean it for 20 seconds.
- Allow the device to stay open and thoroughly dry before plugging it back in and turning it on.
How to disinfect your computer mouse from coronavirus:
- Unplug mouse or power down the mouse.
- If it has a ball device, remove it separately.
- Prep a clean cloth or cotton pad with your 70 percent isopropyl alcohol-based disinfecting solution. (You can also use Clorox wipes.)
- Wipe all buttons that have human contact frequently.
- Clean the ball separately.
- After everything is wiped clean, be sure to let everything thoroughly dry before putting the mouse back together.
- Make sure the mouse is thoroughly dry before plugging it back on or powering it on.

- Power down. The console and the controller need to be off and NOT in sleep mode.
- Unplug all USB-C and Micro USB cables for proper cleaning.
- Remove all batteries.
- Prep a clean cloth or a cotton pad to be sprayed with a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol-based disinfecting solution. (You can also use Lysol or Clorox wipes. DO NOT USE BLEACH ON YOUR GAMING GEAR. ) Just like with laptops, paper products can and will leave scratches. Never spray your controller or console directly, as you will risk moisture leaking down inside which will damage it.
- Don’t soak your applicator, you only want it damp enough to be effective in killing germs.
- Wipe the surface, the buttons, power buttons, and knobs on the controller and the console.
- Allow to perfectly dry before resembling, plugging back in and powering on. (Which will take about 15 minutes.)
REMEMBER: Wipe your devices between users and wash your hands often. Keep your hands away from your mouth, nose, and eyes.
