A Timely Website Recovery

Problem

It was supposed to be a routine workday for the Salem County Chamber of Commerce, but no one could have expected the surprise in store for them. Upon arriving for work, the Chamber experienced an immediate and unprecedented issue with their website — upon which they’ve relied on for years. It simply, went down due to a licensing issue with their former webmaster. The site was completely unavailable.

Risk

Not only were the employees inconvenienced by this outage, but so were the hundreds of local businesses and consumers who use the Chamber of Commerce website to navigate and discover locally owned businesses in the community. With this shutdown, over 800 of the website’s regular users would no longer have access to this information affecting the service of the Chamber, the facility of resources for local customers, and potential revenue of Salem County merchants and service providers. In addition to the business directory, important community and business resources, news, announcements, and networking events were rendered unavailable for an indeterminate amount of time.

Solution

Unable to resolve this issue on their own, the Chamber was, fortunately, able to communicate with someone on their board who connected them with Green Technology Services. Not long after, Green Tech’s web department quickly built a temporary webpage they launched that very same day, and in the next 24-48 hours, the entire Chamber of Commerce site had been rebuilt and was functional, restoring access to the their business directory and resources that helped maintain and grow the local business community.
